The common message that pops up in the system is “The attempt to log in with the username xxx failed”, “This user is already logged into the company file” Or “If possible, try logging in a using a different username”.   1. The first thing to do is close all QuickBooks processes
  2. Once done open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+ Alt+ Delete on your keyboard.
  3. Go to the Process Tab.
  4. Arrange the image of process names in the alphabetical order of all the running processes.
  5. End all processes that starts with QB. To do this right click on the process name and then click on End Process.
  6. After you close all QuickBooks process try logging into the QuickBooks company data file.
  7. When you are storing or hosting the company data file, restart your server.
  8. Open QuickBooks in a workstation.
  9. Try to open QuickBooks company file data
  10. If you cannot open it then login as a different user.
  11. And still the problems persist then contact your QuickBooks Administrator.
  12. In case you are the QuickBooks Administrator and using QuickBooks version 2008 or the later ones then to reset the credentials you need to click on the reset Answer all the questions displayed on the screen.
  13. If you are facing any issues with resetting the password or username then download the Automated Reset Password tool.
  14. Even after resetting the credentials the problem exists then take a backup of data before the issue and then again provide the date.
  15. If the backup you take is not in its accurate status then you need to provide the file to the Data service for recovery.
